Who it helps

Eighty minutes by video, after the days are over

Follow-up sessions are for couples who have done an intensive and are home in Oklahoma, and who want a place to bring what comes up.

A first follow-up usually comes about a month after the intensive. You each join from a quiet place, on a phone, tablet or computer, and Virginia picks up where the days left off. After that, you and she decide together how many more you want, and how far apart.

What to expect

  • The method

The same as the intensive: the Gottman Method and emotionally focused therapy, in shorter sessions. Virginia asks how the plan you made has gone and what got in its way.

  • What this is not

It is not weekly therapy by another name, and it is not for couples who have not done an intensive. For a crisis, call or text 988.

  • Length and pace

Eighty minutes. Virginia sets the pace with you: some couples return for one or two sessions, some for more. We do not promise a number.

How it is paid

Each session is charged by the session, and we put the fee in writing before the first. A receipt you can send to your plan follows each one.

Three questions about this

Do both of us need to be in Oklahoma?

Yes. For a video session you both need to be in Oklahoma at the time, because Virginia is licensed in Oklahoma. Tell us on the planning call if you may be traveling.

Which app do you use?

We send you a private link by email. You do not need to make an account or install anything.

Can we do follow-ups without an intensive?

Not at first. The intensive is where the work starts, and the follow-ups are how it goes on.
