Who it helps

A weekend, from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon

A weekend intensive is for couples whose weekdays are spoken for, and for couples who travel in from outside Oklahoma City.

Friday evening is a gentle start: an hour or two to say what you want from the weekend. Saturday is the long day, in blocks with breaks, and the Saturday evening is yours. Sunday morning picks up from there, and Sunday afternoon turns it into a plan for the weeks ahead.

What to expect

  • The method

Virginia draws on the Gottman Method and on emotionally focused therapy. She keeps the pace, steps in when a conversation turns into a fight, and asks each of you to say what is under the words.

  • What this is not

It is not a getaway, a workshop or a lecture. It is not a substitute for therapy on your own if either of you needs that, and it is not the right place to start if one of you is afraid of the other.

  • Length and pace

One weekend, in blocks with breaks. Virginia sets the pace with you, and either of you can ask to pause. She does not promise a result.

How it is paid

You pay for the weekend yourself, and we give you the fee in writing before you book. Travel and lodging are yours to arrange; Harper can suggest places near the office.

Three questions about this

Do you help with where to stay?

Harper can name places near the office. Lodging and travel are yours to book and pay.

Are Friday and Sunday full days?

No. Friday is an evening and Sunday ends in the afternoon, so most couples can travel on Friday after work and be home Sunday night.

Can we bring our children?

No. The days are for the two of you. If childcare is the hard part, ask on the planning call and we will think it through with you.
